Project Description

With 20 years in Brazil, Walmart has consolidated itself as one of the leading national retailers. It has 540 physical stores spread across nine brands, with shops in the Center West, Northeast, Southeast and South regions. In the hypermarket model, it has wholesale stores, grocery stores and membership warehouse clubs. Matec has been cooperating with Walmart in this major and ongoing process since its beginning, 27 years ago.

The operation includes energy saving, use of natural light, and water recycling and reuse. Flexible buildings, able to respond to future layout modifications. Integrated design to ensure thermal performance (air conditioned). Lump sum turn-key contract, which ensures full operation and provides time savings for the client.

With 100,000 m² built up and distributed across 7 units (Joinville, Pirituba, Santo Amaro, São Miguel, Campinas), we enabled Walmart's reorganization plan, and contributed to the expansion plan of the Walmart, Big and BomPreço brands. We opted for pre-assembled structured due to their reduced need for support services (formwork and falsework, etc). On top of that, this method allowed a timely and cost-savings execution. With the expertise earned in retrofits and expansions, we employed Laser Scanning and BIM methodology to go beyond the preliminary studies, simulating and anticipating interfaces.
